Wedding Planning Tips and
Checklists
Six
months to a year before your wedding:
First decide what kind of wedding the two of you want, the time and date. Please
take a look at all the islands on our web-site and try and decide which island
you would like to be married on. They are all exciting, wonderfully romantic,
and all have different regulations and ceremonies. (Check out the details for
the particular island you choose, they vary considerably. Some have more
restrictions than others. Some do not have wedding services yet. You will have
fun exploring the net.)
Choose the wedding and reception locations. ( On a luxurious yacht, next to a
tropical waterfall, at your hotel's tropical gardens, or under a coconut tree on
a pearly white beach?)
Pick your tropical wedding dress, or bathing suit with a wedding shawl, or
native islanders ceremonial attire. ( Most choose the bathing suit!) Choose the
bridesmaids, groomsmen, ushers, and honored roles, or leave them behind and have
a native wedding and native chorus. (Warning! They will bring tears to your
eyes.)
Send announcements of your engagement to your fiancé's and your
local and hometown newspapers about your tropical island wedding. (Caution! They
will be green with envy!)
Decide if you want a native florist, photographer, caterer, videographer, and
entertainment to discuss budgets and options. (Did you know that fabulous island
weddings can be had for 1/10 the price of a wedding back home?)
Do you want to invite anyone, and if so should we make the travel arrangements?
(We have great bargains on group travel rates.)
What kind of music and food do you prefer at your wedding and reception party?
(You wouldn't believe the exotic selections available in the islands!)
When you have a tropical island wedding you don't have to plan a honeymoon, you
are already in paradise!
Don't forget to let you employer know you are leaving as soon as you have a
date. (You never know, he may want to contribute to your wedding and honeymoon.)
Or would you prefer we arrange for an expert wedding coordinators to do all of
the above for you? (Smile) Note! There are some islands that do not have wedding
coordinators available yet.
Four months before your wedding:
Start thinking about where you are going to live when you return from your
tropical island paradise. (You may want to stay!) Register wedding gifts and
patterns for those who want to buy you gifts instead of contributing to your
island wedding and honeymoon. Order announcements, invitations, programs,
bathing suits, suntan lotion, passports, and personal stationery. Arrange
for physical examinations. (Hopefully there will be no surprises.)
Two months before your wedding:
Wedding bands and engraving, unless you plan to buy them abroad and save a
bundle. Last minute travel arrangements, airfare and lodging can be costly so
let us know how many guests you plan to bring with you.
One month away from bliss:
Did those passports arrive? Make sure you bring all the documents necessary for
the wedding. Birth certificates, divorce decrees if you have been married
before. (Time to let the cat out of the bag if you haven't already.) (Smile)
Two weeks!
You should have received your airline tickets from us, flight bags, personalized
baggage tags, maps, an extremely detailed itinerary, our customer support phone
number, assurance and our best wishes.
Don't forget your cameras, and extra digital memory cards. You can get film
except on the remotest of islands.
You don't need to pack much. Bathing suits, shorts, cosmetics, personal diving
gear, mask, fins and regulator. (Most resorts have a complete selection of
dive gear available.) You won't need a watch!
For those of you that can't leave your lap top computer behind you will need
adapters to plug into the local phone systems. (Our plug ends and phone jacks
don't fit at all!)
Note! We will be happy to get a
wedding coordinator to arrange an elaborate native wedding ceremony on any
tropical island where the services are available. There are some islands that do
not provides wedding services yet.
